Tarique Rahman recites the Holy Quran beside his mother’s coffin

The body of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia was transported to her son Tarique Rahman’s residence in Gulshan-2, Dhaka, in a vehicle draped with the national flag.

Family members, party leaders, and activists gathered at the residence to pay their last respects. Tarique Rahman was seen seated beside his mother’s coffin, reciting verses from the Holy Quran.

At around 9:17am on Wednesday, Khaleda Zia’s body, wrapped in the national flag of Bangladesh, was taken from Evercare Hospital to Gulshan. She was accompanied by her granddaughter Zaima Rahman and other family members, while senior BNP leaders and activists were also present.

The funeral prayers of the uncompromising leader will be held at 2:00pm after Zuhr on Wednesday, 31 December, at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital.
