Rizvi says allies of fascist forces are attempting to incite chaos

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Sunday alleged that associates of the "ousted Awami fascist regime" are trying to foment unrest in the country.

“We demand the restoration of civil rights and genuine democracy. Only in a truly democratic system can the truth be spoken freely. The people want free and fair elections, which will take place under the leadership of Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus,” he said.

Rizvi made the remarks while speaking to reporters after visiting Naima Erin Nitu, the ailing wife of Muttakin Billah—who was killed during the July mass uprising—at Tolarbagh in the capital, according to BSS.

He also expressed hope that the interim government would not delay the election for the benefit of any party or individual.

“They won’t do that. They will hold the election within the declared timeframe in a free and fair manner,” Rizvi added.

BNP Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Religious Affairs Secretary Rafiqul Haque Jamal, executive committee members Kazi Rawnkul Islam Shraban and Abdus Sattar Patwary, Jubo Dal leader Omar Faruk Kawsar, and others were present during the visit.
