A Dhaka court has sentenced ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to 10 years in prison in two additional corruption cases filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over alleged irregularities in plot allocations under the RAJUK Purbachal New Town Project.

The court also imposed a fine of Tk200,000 on Hasina; failure to pay will result in an additional one year of imprisonment.

The verdict was delivered on Monday (2 February) by Judge Robiul Alam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-4.

In the same cases, Hasina’s niece Tulip Siddiq— a British MP and daughter of Sheikh Rehana— was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment and fined Tk200,000, with a further one year in jail in default.

One of the principal accused, Azmina Siddiq, was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment in one case, fined Tk100,000, and given six months of rigorous imprisonment in default. The other principal accused, Radwan Mujib Siddiq, received an identical sentence.

The court also ordered the cancellation of the plots allotted in the names of the convicted individuals.

RAJUK member Khurshid Alam, the only accused currently in custody, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment in the two cases, fined Tk200,000, and handed an additional one year in jail in default of payment.

The court had fixed 2 February for delivering verdicts in the Sheikh Hasina–Tulip–Radwan case on 18 January and in the Sheikh Hasina–Tulip–Azmina case on 13 January. Together, the two cases involve 36 accused, with 18 named in each.

Earlier, on 27 November 2025, the same court sentenced Hasina to 21 years’ imprisonment in similar graft cases, along with prison terms for 20 others, including her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy and daughter Saima Wazed Putul.

Subsequently, on 1 December 2025, Hasina was sentenced to five years in prison, while her sister Sheikh Rehana received a seven-year term and Rehana’s daughter, UK MP Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, was sentenced to two years, alongside separate sentences for 13 other accused.
