Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart, Premier Li Qiang, this afternoon.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is set to hold a bilateral meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Thursday afternoon.

The talks are scheduled to commence at 5:00pm local time, according to Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon.

Preparations have already been completed at the Great Hall of the People to receive the Bangladesh Prime Minister. The venue and its surroundings have been adorned with the national flags of Bangladesh and China, while Bangladeshi flags line both sides of the road leading to the state complex.

Premier Li Qiang will formally welcome Prime Minister Tarique Rahman with a red-carpet reception at 4:45pm local time. The two leaders will then proceed to bilateral discussions following the official ceremony.

The Bangladesh delegation attending the meeting will include Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon, Water Resources Minister Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee, State Minister for Power and Energy Aninda Islam Amit, Foreign Affairs Adviser Humaiun Kobir, Economic and Planning Adviser Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Education Adviser Mahdi Amin, Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam, and other senior officials.

Several memoranda of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed between Bangladesh and China in the presence of the two Prime Ministers after the talks.

Following the meeting, Premier Li Qiang will host a state dinner in honour of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Great Hall of the People.
