PM Assures Measures to Address Industrial Gas Crisis
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has assured business leaders that the government will take necessary measures to address the ongoing gas crisis affecting the country's industrial sector.
The assurance came during a meeting with the prime minister at the Secretariat on Wednesday (29 July), Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) President Showkat Aziz Russell told reporters afterward.
Russell said the gas shortage in the industrial sector was largely the result of delayed policy decisions. He noted that the prime minister was working to gain a clear understanding of the challenges facing the textile industry and said entrepreneurs were encouraged by the government's commitment to resolving the sector's problems.
He also said the government had asked business owners to submit reports outlining the level of support needed for factories that have either shut down completely or are operating below capacity due to the gas shortage.
