Negligence found in newborn deaths at Ad-Din Hospital

Serious negligence has been found in the deaths of six newborns at the post-operative ward of Ad-Din Medical College Hospital in Dhaka’s Moghbazar, according to Zahid Raihan, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Speaking to reporters on Friday morning, he said the investigation revealed multiple irregularities, including structural flaws in the ward.

He added that the government-formed probe committee is scheduled to submit its report on Saturday.

Earlier, a case was filed with Ramna Police Station over the incident, accusing the hospital authorities of negligence that allegedly led to the deaths. The case was lodged on Wednesday night by a relative of one of the deceased newborns.
