Court blocks 31 more bank accounts linked to Hasina, Rehana, and others

A court in Dhaka today ordered the freezing of 31 additional bank accounts belonging to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, daughter Saima Wazed Putul, and sister Sheikh Rehana over corruption allegations.  

Confirming the development to BSS, Deputy Director (Public Relations) Akterul Islam stated that Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order in response to a petition filed by Investigation Officer and ACC Deputy Director Monirul Islam.  

According to ACC sources, the frozen accounts currently hold Taka 394.60 crore.  

In its plea, the ACC argued that the ousted prime minister and her family members were attempting to transfer or dispose of these assets, necessitating the freeze.  

Earlier, on March 11, the court had ordered the freezing of 124 bank accounts linked to Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul, Sheikh Rehana, and others associated with them.
