NCP Will Emerge as Kingmaker in Upcoming JS Polls: Sarjis

National Citizen Party’s (NCP) Northern Region Chief Coordinator Sarjis Alam said on Monday that his party is poised to become the kingmaker in the upcoming national election scheduled for February.

“The NCP will stand with the people—either as the ruling party or as a strong opposition. We did not enter politics to play the role of a submissive opposition like the Jatiya Party,” Sarjis said.

He further noted, “When three major parties contest an election and the top two are closely matched, the third party decides who forms the government. The NCP will assume that decisive role as kingmaker in the forthcoming polls.”

Sarjis made the remarks while speaking to journalists after a coordination meeting of the NCP’s district and upazila committees at the Joypurhat District Freedom Fighters’ Complex auditorium.

He also reaffirmed that the NCP would not contest under any electoral symbol other than the Shapla (water lily).
