NCP leader Arshadul Haque has joined the BNP.
Mir Arshadul Haque, former joint secretary of the National Citizen Party’s (NCP) central committee and chief coordinator of its Chattogram City unit, formally joined the BNP on Wednesday.
He met BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman at the party chairperson’s Gulshan office around 2:00pm, according to BNP Media Cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan.
After the meeting, he enrolled as a primary member of the party by completing a membership form handed to him by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
BNP Treasurer Rashiduzzaman Millat, BNP content creator Dr Saimum Parvez, and Sayrul Kabir Khan were also present.
Earlier, amid discussions between the NCP and Jamaat over a potential electoral alliance, Mir Arshadul Haque resigned from the NCP on December 25, publicly expressing his support for Tarique Rahman.
A well-known figure within both the NCP central committee and its Chattogram City unit, Arshadul was also the party’s nominated candidate for the Chattogram-16 constituency.
