BCB says it has received the ICC’s response on security concerns and rejects reports claiming an ultimatum was issued.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said on Wednesday that it has received a reply from the International Cricket Council (ICC) addressing its concerns over the safety and security of the national team for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 in India, adding that talks between the two sides are ongoing.

Earlier, the BCB had formally written to the ICC expressing concerns about the security of players, team officials and other stakeholders, and had sought the relocation of Bangladesh’s matches from India. The board said the issue remains under discussion and that the ICC has not yet communicated any final decision.

In a statement, the BCB said the ICC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring Bangladesh’s full and uninterrupted participation in the tournament and indicated its willingness to work closely with the board to address the concerns raised.

According to the BCB, the ICC also assured that the board’s inputs would be welcomed and duly considered as part of the comprehensive security planning for the event.

The BCB further dismissed media reports claiming that it had been given an ultimatum in connection with its request.

“The BCB categorically states that such reports are entirely false, baseless and do not reflect the nature or content of the communication received from the ICC,” the statement said.

The board said it would continue to engage with the ICC and relevant event authorities in a cooperative and professional manner to reach a practical solution that ensures Bangladesh’s smooth participation in the tournament.

It added that the safety, security and well-being of the Bangladesh national team would remain its top priority as preparations for the global event move forward.

The ICC has yet to comment publicly on the issue.
