Law Ministry to Accept Applications for Dismissal of Political Harassment Cases

The Law Ministry will now accept applications for the withdrawal of political harassment cases filed between January 6, 2009, and August 5, 2024. Victims of such cases can submit their applications to the solicitor of the Law and Justice Division, provided they include attested copies of the relevant FIR or charge sheets.

This decision follows the 11th meeting of the ministry-level committee tasked with overseeing the withdrawal of political harassment cases, which was held at the ministry. Chaired by Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul, the meeting also decided to withdraw an additional 724 cases, bringing the total number of cases to be withdrawn to 8,294. The committee plans to implement the withdrawal of all political harassment cases from this period in phases.
