Health card distribution to start in June: Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain on Sunday announced that the distribution of health and agriculture cards will begin as part of a pilot project by the end of June, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

He made the remarks while speaking as chief guest at a humanitarian aid distribution programme for underprivileged people, organised from the Prime Minister’s relief and welfare fund ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, at the Belabo Upazila Parishad hall room.

The minister also said that the Prime Minister has waived agricultural loans of up to Tk 10,000, including interest, for farmers. He added that honorariums for imams, muazzins, and priests at the union level have already begun to be disbursed.

Highlighting efforts to build a drug- and corruption-free society, he said the Belabo-Monohardi constituency would be cleared of drugs and corruption, with similar initiatives to be implemented nationwide in phases.

The event was attended by Belabo upazila BNP convener Ahsan Habib Biplob, officials from various agencies, and was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Umme Hafsa Nadia.
