Fire breaks out in Mirpur building; five firefighting units deployed.
A major fire broke out on the third floor of a commercial building in the capital’s Mirpur-2 area on Monday afternoon, with several people feared to be trapped inside.
At least four people have been rescued so far. Five firefighting units are currently working to bring the blaze under control, and additional units are on their way, said Md Anwarul Karim, media officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD).
The fire started at LA Plaza, opposite the Mirpur-2 Stadium, at around 1:52pm, Karim said, adding that the first fire service unit reached the scene within six minutes.
