The Bangladesh Army, in collaboration with Khagrachhari District Sadar Hospital, provided free specialised medical services to 861 patients in the hill district.

Specialist physicians from the surgery, medicine, dermatology, gynaecology and ophthalmology departments treated the patients and offered necessary medical advice yesterday, according to an ISPR press release issued today.

Hundreds of ethnic minority and Bengali residents from remote and hard-to-reach areas benefited from the free healthcare services.

As part of an initiative by different zones under the Khagrachhari Region, arrangements were made to bring patients from remote and inaccessible areas to the district sadar hospital to receive treatment from specialist physicians.

The initiative helped people facing geographical and communication barriers gain access to essential healthcare and medical advice, the release said.

The Bangladesh Army regularly carries out humanitarian assistance and public welfare activities in the Chattogram Hill Tracts as part of its efforts to promote communal harmony and support socio-economic development in the region.

The ISPR said such initiatives would continue in the future.
