By Carrying the Flag, He Reminds the World of What the People of Bangladesh Stand For

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has praised renowned photographer Shahidul Alam for joining the Gaza flotilla.

“By carrying Bangladesh’s flag, he reminds the world of what the people of Bangladesh stand for — never bowing down to oppression and injustice,” Tarique wrote in a post on his verified Facebook page early Saturday.

He described Shahidul’s participation as not only an act of solidarity but also a “roar of conscience,” adding that the BNP stands with him and the people of Palestine “today and always.”

Shahidul Alam, currently aboard the flotilla, has been sharing updates about the mission, emphasizing that it is about more than delivering aid — it is also about raising global awareness of the suffering of Palestinians.

The Gaza flotilla, officially known as the Global Sumud Flotilla, is a civil society initiative seeking to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza and deliver humanitarian assistance. It comprises dozens of civilian boats carrying activists, doctors, journalists, and relief supplies.
