A total of 59,783 Bangladeshi pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj.
A total of 59,783 Bangladeshi pilgrims have so far arrived in Saudi Arabia on 154 flights to perform the holy Hajj.
Of them, 4,444 pilgrims traveled under the government management scheme, while 55,339 went through private arrangements.
The information was provided in a daily bulletin issued on Saturday by the IT Help Desk of the Hajj Portal under the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
According to the bulletin, 30,844 pilgrims traveled on 78 flights operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, while 20,080 pilgrims flew on 54 flights operated by Saudia. Another 8,859 pilgrims reached Saudi Arabia on 22 flights operated by Flynas.
So far, 16 Bangladeshi pilgrims have died during the Hajj journey, including 12 men and four women. Of the deaths, 12 occurred in Mecca and four in Medina.
Subject to the sighting of the moon, the holy Hajj is expected to be held in Saudi Arabia on May 26.
On April 18, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman formally inaugurated this year’s Hajj flight operations at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
