The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses have emerged as the best-selling product in 60% of Ray-Ban stores throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), according to Essilor Luxottica's Chief Financial Officer, Stefano Grassi. This achievement was disclosed during the company's Q3 2024 earnings call. Grassi emphasized the strong sales performance of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, highlighting their popularity not just in the U.S. but also across the EMEA region. He stated, "In 60% of the Ray-Ban stores in EMEA, Ray-Ban Meta is the best-seller in those stores." He expressed contentment with the product's success, which indicates a rising consumer interest in smart eyewear.

Priced at $300, the Ray-Ban Meta glasses represent a premium offering in Ray-Ban's collection, contrasting with the brand's average selling price of $150 to $200. This trend suggests that consumers are willing to invest more in stylish and functional smart glasses, reflecting a growing demand for wearable technology.

While the Ray-Ban Meta glasses are still considered early-generation smart glasses and do not feature advanced elements like a display, Meta has been steadily implementing software updates. Recent improvements include reminders, timers, voice messaging through WhatsApp, and integration with Meta AI. Later this year, Meta plans to introduce live translation, Spotify controls, and other features, although these enhancements will initially be available only in the UK within the EMEA region.

Furthermore, Meta has recently extended its partnership with Essilor Luxottica through 2030, focusing on developing future generations of smart eyewear. This collaboration positions both companies as potential leaders in the evolving smart glasses market. However, Meta faces competition from tech giants like Samsung, Google, and Apple, all of which are reportedly working on their own smart eyewear products, with Apple's launch anticipated in 2027.
