Gold prices reach an all-time high

Gold prices in Bangladesh have hit a new record high, with the cost of 22-carat gold rising by Tk 2,612 to reach Tk 140,061 per bhori (11.664 grams). This is the highest price ever recorded for gold in the country, and the new rates will be effective from Sunday, according to a press release issued by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) on Saturday.
The price hike was attributed to increased costs of refined gold in the local market.
In addition to 22-carat gold, the price of 21-carat gold rose by Tk 2,507 to Tk 133,704 per bhori, 18-carat by Tk 2,146 to Tk 114,599, and traditional method gold increased by Tk 1,831 to Tk 94,117 per bhori.
Silver prices, however, remain unchanged at Tk 2,100 per bhori for 22-carat silver.
