Eight members of the Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement were injured in what police described as an internal clash in the Sonadanga area of Khulna city yesterday. Some of the injured, including two females, have been hospitalized at Khulna Medical College Hospital. The students who were hurt include Nazmul, 24, from Govt Haji Mohammad Mohsin College; Sadia, 18, a second-year HSC student from City College, Khulna; Diya, a second-year HSC student from Govt. Pioneer College; and Shahriar, 23, from BL College.

Dr. Kanak Hossain, assistant registrar of the surgery department at Khulna Medical College Hospital, stated, "The students sustained minor injuries. Two female students experienced difficulty breathing, likely due to panic attacks triggered by fear." According to the police, the incident occurred near Zia Hall at Shibbari Mor in the afternoon as the students were returning from a program organized by the Social Service Office in Sheikhpara.

Sheikh Moniruzzaman Mithu, Deputy Commissioner (South) of Khulna Metropolitan Police, suggested that the clash may have been the result of an internal dispute. "It appears that the coordinators themselves were involved in the altercation rather than being attacked by outsiders," he said. The DC also mentioned that no complaints had been filed yet. "If a complaint is filed, we will take appropriate action," he added.

Meanwhile, Mohorom Hasan Mahim, a coordinator of the movement, told The Daily Star that the attack appeared premeditated, though he could not identify the perpetrators. Another coordinator, who wished to remain anonymous, suggested that the clash may have stemmed from resentment over the program's invitations. He explained that while one group was invited, the other was excluded, though he did not name those involved in the incident.
