The 11th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 players' draft will be held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka on Monday, featuring both local and international players categorized by grade. The event will be broadcast live on T Sports and streamed on the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) social media platforms and the official BPL Facebook page. Here’s what to expect:
Participating Teams:
Fortune Barishal – Fortune Shoes Limited
Rangpur Riders – Toggy Sports Limited
Khulna Tigers – Mind Tree
Sylhet Strikers – Future Sports Bangladesh Limited
Dhaka Capitals – Champions Sports Limited (supported by Walton Group and Harlan & Remarks brand)
Durbar Rajshahi – Valentine Group
Chittagong Kings – SQ Sports Enterprise Limited
Squad Composition:
Minimum squad size: 12 players (10 local, 2 overseas).
Maximum number of overseas players: Unlimited, while local players are capped at 14.
Local Player Remuneration Cap:
Each franchise has a Tk 4 crore cap for recruiting local players.
Costs for retained or directly signed players do not count towards this cap.
Local Player Retention and Direct Signing (Existing Teams):
Fortune Barishal, Sylhet Strikers, Khulna Tigers, and Rangpur Riders can retain up to two local players from the previous season.
These teams can sign only one additional local player from any category.
Direct Signing for New Teams:
New franchises (Dhaka Capitals, Durbar Rajshahi, and Chittagong Kings) can directly sign two local players from any category.
Auction for Unsold 'A' Category Players:
If 'A' category players remain unsold after the draft, an auction will be held with a base price at 50% of the player's total remuneration.
If bidding exceeds Tk 60 lakh, a lottery will determine the final buyer.
Overseas Player Remuneration Cap:
Each franchise has a cap of USD 250,000 for recruiting overseas players.
A minimum of three overseas players must be selected during the draft.
Player Pool:
188 local players will be available for selection in the draft, with the overseas list expected by October 12.
Price Caps:
Local Players: Highest cap set at Tk 60 lakh (25% less than last year), and the lowest at Tk 10 lakh. Six price categories range from Tk 60 lakh to Tk 10 lakh.
Overseas Players: Highest price cap of USD 70,000, with five categories, the lowest being USD 15,000.
