BNP demands cancellation of appointments from the 43rd BCS.

The BNP today demanded the total cancellation of appointments made from the final results of the 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination, conducted under the Awami League government, to ensure fairness for job seekers. The party also called for the annulment of all proceedings related to the 44th, 45th, and 46th BCS exams, insisting on a fair and transparent process for appointing qualified candidates.
"We urge the interim government to immediately revoke the gazette notification regarding the appointments made based on the results of the 43rd BCS exams, which were overseen by a biased commission during the Awami League's authoritarian rule," stated BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed.
During a press conference at BNP Chairperson's Gulshan office, he cited a precedent for annulling BCS recruitment, referring to the interim government's decision in 2007 to invalidate appointments based on the 27th BCS results. He noted that the final results of the 27th BCS were annulled for similar reasons, and the government later issued a recruitment circular after re-conducting viva exams.
Salahuddin emphasized that the government could adopt the approach taken in the 27th BCS recruitment process for the 43rd BCS.
He expressed concerns that just two months after the mass uprising, the appointments of loyalists from the Awami League, made without proper scrutiny, raised serious issues. "We believe this appointment is a betrayal of the sacrifices made by students during the anti-fascist movement," he stated.
"On behalf of the country and the nation, we strongly demand that the interim government cancel the 43rd BCS appointments, which were made on a partisan basis, depriving thousands of deserving and talented candidates," he concluded.
