The Awami League has strongly condemned the cancellation of eight significant national days, accusing the government of attempting to "erase the history and spirit of the national liberation struggle." In a statement shared on their official Facebook page, the party claimed the current government has been undermining the values of the Liberation War from the outset.

The statement further alleged that the government is taking deliberate steps to destroy the war’s legacy, targeting freedom fighters and pro-liberation forces with unjust charges and mass arrests. It emphasized that Bangladesh's independence, led by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, was the nation's greatest achievement, supported by his colleagues, freedom fighters, and the public.

The Awami League accused the government of showing vengeful behavior towards institutions and monuments linked to the Liberation War and moving to exclude national days related to the Father of the Nation from official celebrations. They condemned these actions as retaliatory and vowed that the people, inspired by the Liberation War spirit, would unite to reject any attempt to distort national history and promote divisive politics.
