Tarique Rahman Praises Shahidul Alam’s Participation in Sumud Flotilla

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has lauded veteran photojournalist and human rights activist Shahidul Alam for joining the Global Sumud Flotilla — a humanitarian mission aimed at breaking the blockade on war-torn Gaza.

In a Facebook post, Tarique Rahman wrote, “Shahidul Alam’s bold step onto the Gaza flotilla is not just an act of solidarity — it is a roar of conscience. By carrying Bangladesh’s flag, he reminds the world what our nation stands for: never bowing to oppression and injustice. The BNP stands firmly with him and with the people of Palestine, today and always.”

The post came on Saturday, just hours after Shahidul’s vessel was intercepted, as Tarique extended the party’s solidarity with the activist.

Shahidul has joined the Freedom Flotilla Coalition’s (FFC) Media Flotilla as the first Bangladeshi participant, in an effort to challenge the ongoing information blackout in Gaza.
