Prime Minister and UAE President discuss implications of military escalation for regional security and stability.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed the implications of the ongoing military escalation on regional security and stability during a telephone conversation on Thursday, in the context of the conflict involving Israel, the United States, and Iran.
“UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a one-on-one telephone conversation on Thursday afternoon,” Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Saleh Shibly told BSS tonight.
During the conversation, the press secretary said, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expressed Bangladesh’s solidarity with the UAE and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. In response, the UAE president thanked the Bangladeshi premier for the call and his concern.
Rahman also conveyed his sincere appreciation to the UAE leadership for looking after Bangladeshi nationals living in the UAE, Shibly added.
The prime minister further expressed deep gratitude for the support extended by Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, as well as by the UAE ambassador and embassy officials in Dhaka.
During the conversation, Tarique Rahman invited Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to visit Bangladesh, and the UAE president accepted the invitation.
The UAE president also thanked the Bangladeshi prime minister for the call and for expressing solidarity with his country.
Both leaders stressed the need for an immediate halt to military escalation to prevent the conflict from spreading across the region and to mitigate its serious implications for regional and global security.
They also emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in resolving disputes and achieving a peaceful solution, Shibly added.
