Parliament passes 10 additional bills
With no clause-by-clause amendment proposals submitted, the bills were passed without any discussion.
The Jatiya Sangsad on Friday approved 10 more bills to convert ordinances issued by the interim government into formal laws.
The bills were passed unanimously during the morning sitting on the 13th day of the first session of the 13th parliament. With no clause-by-clause amendment proposals submitted, the legislation was adopted without discussion.
The session was presided over by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed.
Of the 133 ordinances promulgated by the interim government, a parliamentary special committee recommended passing 98 without changes and 15 with amendments. It also proposed scrapping four and replacing 16 with stronger, revised versions.
The bills taken up during the morning sitting were among those recommended for passage without amendments.
Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher placed five bills—the Narayanganj Development Authority Bill, 2026; Barishal Development Authority Bill, 2026; Mymensingh Development Authority Bill, 2026; Cumilla Development Authority Bill, 2026; and Rangpur Development Authority Bill, 2026—all of which were passed unanimously. Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury also tabled the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which received unanimous approval.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo presented the Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation Bill, 2026, which was likewise passed unanimously.
Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury placed the Deposit Protection Bill, 2026; the Excises and Salt Bill, 2026; and the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty (Amendment) Bill, 2026—all of which were approved without opposition.
