No Bar to Tarique Rahman’s Return, Says Home Affairs Adviser
Home Affairs Adviser Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has said that there are no restrictions on BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman returning to the country.
“Tarique Rahman is free to return whenever he wishes,” he told reporters after visiting the Salna Highway Police Station in Gazipur around 12:00 pm on Thursday.
Addressing the issue of cross-border "push-ins," the adviser said, “Those being pushed in from India are not entering through legal channels. They are being forced in, which is inhumane. We have raised the matter with the Indian High Commissioner.”
On concerns about the possible spread of Covid-19 by those entering the country this way, he said, “Instructions have been given to step up awareness measures at airports and land ports.”
“However, personal responsibility is key. Everyone must wear masks and remain vigilant,” he added.
