Chief Adviser extends congratulations to Tarique Rahman on sweeping election victory
Chief Adviser of the Interim Government Muhammad Yunus has warmly congratulated Tarique Rahman, Chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, on securing a commanding majority in the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.
In his message, Professor Yunus conveyed his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on the party’s decisive victory under Rahman’s leadership in the 13th National Parliament election.
He noted that the clear mandate delivered by the people during this historic democratic transition represents a major milestone for constitutional continuity, democratic consolidation, and institutional stability in the country.
Expressing confidence in Rahman’s leadership, Professor Yunus said he firmly believes that, in assuming the solemn responsibility of governing the nation, the BNP chairman will guide Bangladesh toward a stable, inclusive, and development-focused path—anchored in prudence, democratic principles, and a strong commitment to public welfare.
The Chief Adviser also recalled the ideals and statesmanship of Rahman’s father, Ziaur Rahman, and the steadfast leadership and dedication to democracy shown by his mother, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia. He expressed hope that their legacy and distinguished contributions would continue to inspire Rahman’s leadership in the years ahead.
Professor Yunus observed that Bangladesh now stands at the threshold of new global opportunities. He emphasized that thoughtful strategy, foresight, and sound judgment will be vital in advancing economic transformation, technological innovation, climate resilience, human resource development, and proactive regional and international engagement.
He further voiced optimism that under Rahman’s stewardship, national unity would be strengthened and democratic values, the rule of law, and accountable governance would be further reinforced.
The Chief Adviser also expressed sincere appreciation for Rahman’s constructive cooperation during the interim government’s tenure. He noted that Rahman’s positive role in maintaining a democratic atmosphere, demonstrating tolerance, and respecting constitutional processes during this sensitive transition period significantly helped safeguard national interests.
Concluding his message, Professor Yunus wished Rahman success in promoting public welfare, upholding justice, and building a prosperous Bangladesh, and prayed that Almighty Allah grant him wisdom, patience, and steadfastness in serving the nation.
