BNP Secures Sweeping Victory, Tarique Rahman to Speak to the Media This Afternoon

Following a commanding victory in the 13th parliamentary election, BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to address a press conference on Saturday afternoon.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the briefing will take place at 3:00pm in the ballroom of Hotel InterContinental Dhaka. It will mark Tarique Rahman’s first press conference since returning to the country after nearly one and a half decades abroad, and comes in the wake of the party’s sweeping win in the 13th parliamentary polls.

Unofficial results indicate that the BNP secured 209 seats in the election. Tarique Rahman was elected from the Dhaka-17 and Bogura-6 constituencies.

Members of the party’s Standing Committee are also expected to attend the press conference.
