The Election Commission issues the official gazette notification of the referendum results.
The Election Commission has released the official gazette notification detailing the results of the national referendum.
The gazette, signed by Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed, was issued on Friday night (13 February). It states that 48,200,660 voters cast their ballots in favour (“Yes”), while 22,071,726 voted against (“No”).
According to the notification, the total number of valid votes stood at 70,272,286. In addition, 7,422,637 ballots were declared invalid, bringing the overall number of votes cast to 77,695,023.
The referendum, centred on constitutional reforms, was held last Thursday alongside the 13th National Parliamentary Election. The Election Commission announced the final results for 297 parliamentary seats on Friday afternoon and later published the gazette notification the same night after completing all necessary formalities.
