Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) Chairman Abu Momtaz Saad Uddin Ahmed said on Friday that he does not want to see any more road accidents that take lives and leave families in despair.

“We do not want to see road accidents. Our aim is to restore discipline on the roads, and we are working to prevent accidents. For this, everyone’s cooperation is essential,” he said.

He made the remarks while speaking at a cheque distribution ceremony in Satkhira for families affected by road accidents.

The BRTA chairman noted that since 2022, the BRTA Trustee Board has distributed Tk74 crore in compensation cheques to families of road accident victims across the country.

At Friday’s event, held at the Satkhira Deputy Commissioner’s conference room, Tk26 lakh was handed over. Families of five victims received Tk5 lakh each, while one injured family was given Tk1 lakh.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Satkhira Ripon Biswas, Additional Superintendent of Police Mukit Hasan Khan, and senior BRTA officials were also present.
