BNP’s Salahuddin: Public Relations

BNP Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed on Tuesday stated that, for his party, PR stands for Public Relations—or connecting with people—which “everyone is now engaged in ahead of the February general elections.”

“That is the PR we believe in. Those trying to impose proportional representation to create permanent unrest will not succeed,” he told reporters.

The BNP leader made the remarks while paying homage at party founder Ziaur Rahman’s grave, marking the organisation’s 46th founding anniversary.

“In Bangladesh, the country is now in an election mood. Potential candidates are connecting with the public. In this situation, if any party creates confusion or obstructs the polls, the people will recognize them, and there is a chance they will face political rejection,” he added.

Salahuddin also alleged that some individuals were conspiring to hinder Bangladesh’s democratic transition.

“Local and foreign forces may be involved, and we can assume their activity. But the people of the country are united. Anyone who tries to obstruct democracy here, or engages in any local or foreign conspiracy, will face the people’s resistance,” he said.
