Barrister Mosharraf Hossain assumes charge as CID chief

Additional Inspector General of Police (Addl IGP) Barrister Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain formally took charge today as the new chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

He previously served as the Director of the National Security Intelligence (NSI), according to a gazette notification issued yesterday.

A 15th BCS Police cadre officer, Mosharraf joined the Bangladesh Police as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in 1995.

Over his nearly three-decade career, he has served in various key positions at the CID, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Police Headquarters and Police Academy, Sardah. He also served as Superintendent of Police in Pirojpur and Chapainawabganj, gaining extensive experience in investigation, intelligence, training and administration.

He holds a master's degree in Economics from Islamic University, Kushtia, and a Bar-at-Law degree from City University of London in the United Kingdom. He has also undergone specialised training in forensic science and modern policing both at home and abroad.

Senior officials of the CID welcomed him during the charge-taking ceremony.
