Bangladesh sets a world record by parachuting with the highest number of flags.
Bangladesh has created a world record by staging a mass parachuting display in which 54 paratroopers carried out a perfectly coordinated skydive while holding national flags, commemorating 54 years of independence.
The distinctive event was organised by the Armed Forces on Tuesday at the parade ground beside the old Tejgaon Airport in the capital.
A total of 54 paratroopers from “Team Bangladesh” participated in the historic feat, setting a world record for the highest number of individuals parachuting simultaneously while carrying flags.
Chief Adviser Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus was present to witness the landmark event.
The programme also included a joint flypast by the Army, Navy and Air Force, featuring aircraft and helicopters of the Bangladesh Air Force performing aerial manoeuvres.
Thousands of spectators gathered at the Tejgaon old airport area to enjoy the Victory Day air show. By around 11:00 am, long queues had formed at the Agargaon entrance gates, with visitors entering the venue after security screening.
Members of the Army, Air Force and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) were deployed to ensure security throughout the event.
