Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan: EC to Announce Election Roadmap in Due Course
Adviser to the Ministries of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and Youth and Sports, Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, has stated that the Election Commission (EC) will unveil its election roadmap in due course, aligned with the tentative schedule for elections in the first half of April.
He made these comments on Monday morning while exchanging Eid greetings with residents in various parts of Muradnagar, Cumilla, in response to questions from journalists.
“It is unfortunate when rumors from social media are echoed by mainstream media,” Sajib Bhuiyan said. “Many do so with political intent.”
He also emphasized the importance of elected representation in local government, saying, “In the absence of elected representatives, people are being deprived of vital daily services. There are multiple tiers of local government, and based on the government's decision, the Election Commission will be instructed to conduct elections accordingly.”
Present at the event were Cumilla District Superintendent of Police Mohammad Nazir Ahmed Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Barua, Muradnagar Upazila Executive Officer Md. Abdur Rahman, along with other senior local officials.
