The U.S. has stated that those responsible for human rights violations in Bangladesh in recent months must be held accountable.

Washington has emphasized the need for accountability for recent human rights violations in Bangladesh. "We want to see human rights protected, and those responsible for violating the rights of the Bangladeshi people over the past few months must be held accountable," said State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller during a briefing yesterday.

Human rights organizations have raised concerns about cases of "mob justice" and "lynching" in Bangladesh following the recent political transition.

Miller was asked how the U.S. plans to ensure accountability in light of the growing number of legal cases being filed against innocent individuals and about the current state of human rights protection in Bangladesh. He was also questioned about U.S. communication with Bangladeshi authorities regarding the protection of minorities amid reports of violence against them.

"We certainly want to see the rights of minorities protected in Bangladesh," Miller added.
