Teenager killed in mob attack in Tongi

A teenager was killed and another critically injured in a mob beating in Tongi, Gazipur, after being accused of robbery. The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in the Haque Mor area of Dattapara, Tongi. The deceased, 18-year-old Sabbir Hossain, died from his injuries while receiving treatment at a hospital around midnight. The identity of the other injured teen remains unknown.

According to local sources, several muggings took place in the area earlier that evening. Soon after, locals apprehended Sabbir and the other teen, suspecting their involvement, and subjected them to a mob beating, leaving both seriously injured.

At approximately 1:30am, locals took the injured teens to Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital, where Sabbir was declared dead. The unidentified teen was no longer at the hospital when police arrived.

Tongi East Police Station's Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kaiser Ahmed confirmed that an investigation is underway, and a case will be filed. Sabbir's body has been sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur for an autopsy.
