AF Hassan Ariff, the land adviser of the interim government, passed away this afternoon. He breathed his last around 3:10 pm at Labaid Hospital in Dhaka due to heart complications, according to hospital sources. Physicians declared him dead shortly after he was brought to the emergency department.  

Md Nasir Uddin, acting personal secretary of the land ministry adviser, confirmed the news, stating that Hassan Ariff passed away at 3:10 pm.  

Hassan Ariff had a distinguished career in both law and public service. Appointed as the adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Land on August 8 in the interim government, he later served as the adviser to the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism.  

A senior lawyer at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, Hassan Ariff began practicing law at the Kolkata High Court in 1967 before moving to Dhaka in 1970. He served as Attorney General from October 2001 to April 2005 and as the law adviser to the caretaker government from 2008 to January 2009.  

In addition to his legal practice, Hassan Ariff served as a legal adviser to numerous organizations, including the Road and Highways Department, Chittagong Port Authority, Mongla Port Authority, Security and Exchange Commission, Chattogram Development Authority, Chittagong Stock Exchange, University Grant Commission, and Grameen Phone Bangladesh. Notably, he was the serving legal adviser for the Dhakeshwari National Temple Complex at the time of his passing.
