After a day filled with drama surrounding the non-payment issue of Durbar Rajshahi cricketers on Wednesday, the team's official assured around midnight that 50% of the payments for all players would be settled by Thursday.

Jayed Ahmed, the in-charge of Durbar Rajshahi, issued a video statement acknowledging the delay and apologizing for it. He also clarified that the team management had previously committed to settling the payments by January 16, and that the players' absence from practice was unrelated to the payment issue.

“The reports circulating today regarding the practice sessions and payments are inaccurate. The team management had already promised that all players would receive their payments by tomorrow, January 16. There is no connection to the practice schedule,” Jayed stated.

He explained that during the team's travel from Sylhet to Chattogram, some players disembarked in Dhaka to rest. As a result, the full squad had not yet arrived in Chattogram. "A few players arrived last night, some today, and 1-2 are still on their way. Their rest was approved by the management upon request, which is the sole reason for their absence. Regarding payments, I assure you that everyone will receive theirs tomorrow without fail," he added.

Jayed further assured that the payment process would be addressed promptly: “We acknowledge the delay and apologize for it. This should not have happened. Tomorrow, Thursday, 25% of the payment will be given in cash, and another 25% will be issued via checks. In total, 50% of the payments will be settled.”

Addressing the bounced checks, he explained: “The reason for the delay was that during one of our matches, the wife of the team owner was injured by a ball on the sidelines and fractured a bone. She was immediately taken to Bangkok for treatment. Although the checks were issued earlier, we were advised not to deposit them until she returned to the country.”

Durbar Rajshahi is scheduled for their final training session at the M A Aziz Stadium on Thursday ahead of their match against Sylhet Strikers on Friday.
