Four platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in Mohakhali, Dhaka, to ensure order as Titumir College students block railway tracks in protest, demanding their institution be upgraded to a university.

The students began their protest around 4:15 pm on Monday, causing the suspension of train services on the Dhaka-Tongi-Dhaka route. Currently, no trains are operating on this section.

Md Anwar Hossain, the station master at Kamalapur Railway Station, confirmed the disruption, stating that around 3:30 pm, they were informed that the Noakhali-bound Upakul Express had been stopped by the students.

The officer-in-charge of the Railway police station mentioned that the situation was tense, and following his instructions, all trains were halted.

The students initially blocked the Mohakhali-Gulshan road around 12:30 pm, halting traffic, before marching to the railway crossing to block the tracks. They have vowed to continue the protest until their demands are met, warning that the demonstration may escalate if their concerns remain unaddressed.
