10 injured in a clash between students of Butex and Dhaka Polytechnic Institute in Tejgaon

At least 10 students were injured in a clash between students of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute and Bangladesh University of Textiles (Butex) on Sunday night. Authorities deployed additional forces to restore order.

According to Md Gazi Shamimur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Tejgaon Industrial Police Station, several injuries were reported, and efforts were being made to control the situation. However, the cause of the conflict could not be confirmed.

The clash reportedly began around 9:30 pm between students of Shaheed Aziz Hall at Butex and Latif Hall at Dhaka Polytechnic Institute. It later spread to other halls, with over two hours of skirmishes leaving at least 10 injured.

Shafin, a student from Butex’s GMAG Osmani Hall, stated that the conflict started as an argument between students from Shaheed Aziz Hall and Latif Hall, eventually escalating into a violent clash. Injured students from both sides were transported to Dhaka Medical College Hospital by rickshaw for treatment.
