The High Court has ordered that secondary schools remain closed during Ramadan

The High Court (HC) today instructed the authorities to keep all government and non-government lower secondary and secondary schools closed from February 18 during the holy month of Ramadan.

However, the court said that any examinations scheduled during Ramadan must be conducted as planned.

“The order and a rule were issued by a High Court division bench comprising Justice Fahmida Quader and Justice Md Ashif Hasan after hearing a writ petition filed in this regard,” said the petitioner’s lawyer, Advocate Elias Ali Mondal.

Advocate Mondal, along with Advocate Tanjina Boby Liza, placed the petition before the court.

Earlier, on January 20, Supreme Court lawyer Md Elias Ali Mondal filed the writ petition seeking directives to close lower secondary and secondary schools during Ramadan. Before submitting the petition, legal notices were sent to the secretaries of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education over the same matter.
