The Election Commission received a letter today regarding the swearing-in of the newly elected Members of Parliament, Election Commissioner Anwarul said
The oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected Members of Parliament will be held on Tuesday morning at the South Plaza of the National Parliament House.
Election Commissioner Md Anwarul Islam Sarker has said the Election Commission (EC) is likely to receive a letter today regarding the administration of the oath to the newly elected Members of Parliament.
Speaking to reporters around 11:30am on Sunday (15 February), Anwarul Islam noted that the commission may receive formal communication about the swearing-in process and that preparations for the MPs’ oath ceremony have already been completed.
According to parliamentary sources, the swearing-in of the MPs-elect will be held on Tuesday morning at the South Plaza of the National Parliament House. Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin will administer the oath.
Meanwhile, officials at the Cabinet Division said the new Cabinet is scheduled to be sworn in later the same day at 4:00pm, with President Mohammed Shahabuddin presiding over the ceremony.
In the 13th National Parliamentary elections, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) won an outright majority. Led by Tarique Rahman, the party is poised to form the government for the first time in two decades.
