President of Bangladesh to administer oath to new cabinet members: Cabinet Secretary

Mohammad Sahabuddin will administer the oath to the new cabinet members in line with the Constitution, Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdur Rashid said on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters at the Bangladesh Secretariat, the Cabinet Secretary said preparations for the swearing-in ceremony are already underway at the Cabinet Division.

Abdur Rashid added that approximately 1,000 guests are likely to be invited to attend the ceremony.

When asked about the size of the new cabinet, he said the decision rests with the Leader of the House, the Prime Minister. “It is up to the Prime Minister to decide how many ministers will be appointed now or at a later stage,” he said.

Regarding the possible date of the ceremony, he noted that no final decision has been made yet. “We cannot confirm the date at this moment. Once we receive instructions about the date and time, we will act accordingly. If it is scheduled for tomorrow, we will prepare for tomorrow. If it is two days later, we will prepare for that day. Only then will we be able to announce the exact date,” he added.
