President-elect Mirza Fakhrul Pays Tribute to Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia
President-elect Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday paid tribute to BNP founder and Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia by visiting their graves at the Zia Mausoleum in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka.
After offering Jummah prayers, Fakhrul visited Zia Udyan, where he laid separate wreaths at the graves of Ziaur Rahman and Khaleda Zia. He also recited Fateha and participated in a munajat, praying for the eternal peace of the departed leaders.
Fakhrul is set to take oath as Bangladesh’s 23rd President later on Friday evening. The oath-taking ceremony is scheduled for 7:30pm at Bangabhaban’s Darbar Hall, with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad expected to administer the oath.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Cabinet members and hundreds of distinguished guests are expected to attend the ceremony.
