Occupation forces detain Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque
Israeli occupation police on Monday evening detained Sheikh Mohammad Ali Al-Abbasi, the imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque, from within the mosque’s courtyards in occupied Jerusalem, according to local sources.
The detention comes amid escalating measures by the occupation authorities targeting Al-Aqsa Mosque. These include restrictions on imams, preachers, and al-Murabitin — individuals who maintain a constant presence at the site — as well as limits on worshippers’ access and increased incursions by colonists under heavy protection from Israeli police.
Occupied Jerusalem, particularly the Old City and the vicinity of Al-Aqsa Mosque, has been witnessing heightened tensions due to strict security measures imposed by Israeli authorities, including detentions and restrictions on religious leaders and local activists.
