Home Minister assures ‘speedy and exemplary justice’ in Ramisa murder case
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed today assured the nation that the trial in the rape and murder case of eight-year-old schoolgirl Ramisa would be completed as quickly as possible.
“We can assure everyone that an exemplary trial in the Ramisa murder case will be ensured through the swift submission of the charge sheet. However, we cannot comment on the punishment,” he said.
The minister made the remarks while responding to questions about the Ramisa case during a press briefing at the conference room of the home ministry.
He said police have been taking the highest level of action against all heinous crimes since the BNP government assumed office, ensuring quick arrests and investigations.
“You cannot point to any heinous crime since we took office where the matter was neglected or arrests were not made promptly,” he added.
Referring to the Ramisa case, Salahuddin said the prime accused, Sohel, was arrested within 24 hours of the incident along with his wife.
He also said the accused had given a confessional statement before the court.
