Chief Advisor Convenes Urgent Meeting on US Tariff Measures

Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus has convened an emergency meeting this evening at 7:30 PM, Saturday, at the State Guest House Jamuna to address the recent imposition of US tariffs. According to a statement from the Chief Advisor's Press Wing, the meeting will include the participation of senior advisors, top experts, and government officials. The urgency follows US President Donald Trump's announcement of a 37 percent tariff on Bangladeshi goods—up from the previous 15.5 percent—posing a significant threat to Bangladesh's $40 billion garment export industry. The government is actively seeking dialogue with the Trump administration to mitigate the impact and explore avenues to reduce the trade deficit with the United States.
