Bangladesh–US ties are more important than ever: Paul Kapur
Paul Kapur has underscored the deepening ties between Bangladesh and the United States, noting that the relationship between Dhaka and Washington is now more important than ever.
“Today, the US-Bangladesh relationship matters more than ever,” he wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday.
Kapur highlighted that cooperation in areas such as security, trade, and governance—along with shared values—continues to strengthen both nations, contributing to greater prosperity and stability.
During a two-day visit to Bangladesh in March, he discussed key US priorities, including expanding market access for American businesses, boosting cooperation on irregular migration, and enhancing collaboration on regional security and counterterrorism.
He also held talks on increasing bilateral trade and investment, strengthening security cooperation, and advancing shared interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
In a separate development, during a recent meeting with Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright acknowledged Bangladesh’s ongoing energy challenges and reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to supporting the country in ensuring its energy security.
Wright said the US would consider Bangladesh’s requests and assured close coordination with relevant government agencies to address the issue.
Khalilur met Wright at the Department of Energy in Washington, DC, on March 31.
