Bangladesh has launched an online database dedicated to terrorism-related cases.

Bangladesh reached an important milestone in its judicial system on December 27 last year with the soft launch of the Online Terrorism Case Database, a platform designed to strengthen case management and improve coordination among agencies handling terrorism-related cases.

The system was inaugurated by former Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed and developed locally with technical assistance from the United States Department of Justice and the US Embassy in Dhaka.

According to the US Embassy, the state-of-the-art digital platform aims to enhance information sharing among relevant authorities, increase transparency, and support more efficient handling of terrorism cases. The initiative is also expected to bolster the rule of law by modernising judicial data management and streamlining coordination among institutions involved in counterterrorism efforts. Officials associated with the project described the database as a significant step in reinforcing Bangladesh’s justice and security framework, reflecting continued cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States in advancing judicial reform and institutional capacity building.

The launch highlights Bangladesh’s commitment to adopting modern, technology-driven solutions to address complex legal and security challenges in line with international standards.
