Accused Sohel confesses to raping and murdering Ramisa

A Dhaka court on Wednesday recorded the statement of accused Sohel Rana in connection with the death of a seven-year-old girl in the capital’s Pallabi area.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Junayed recorded the statement and ordered him to be sent to jail following a petition filed by Pallabi Police Station Sub-Inspector Ahiduzzaman, the investigating officer of the case.

In the same case, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ashraful Haque also sent Sohel’s wife, Swapna Akhter, to jail after another petition filed by SI Ahiduzzaman.

Earlier, the body of the victim, Ramisa Akter, was recovered from Pallabi on Tuesday morning.

According to police and family members, the child was attacked with a sharp weapon around 9am.

Investigators said Ramisa died after being assaulted by the accused.
